My Town

And so here we are, yet another blog post as yet another short story of mine is out now.

I'm doing good, thanks for asking inanimate internet space. It's been a busy month since my last post but not much has changed as my life still consists mostly of writing when I'm not working... although for the first part of the month, I did significantly less of it in an attempt to start dating again (via apps). But that was short-lived, and my experiences in that time will definitely be the inspiration for eighteen future books. After one particularly disastrous date a few weeks ago, I suddenly felt quite excited about writing again; I had this voice in my head telling me to focus on writing and let all that other stuff happen naturally (lols) when the time is right because to be honest, it isn't the right time. My heart wasn't in it either and whilst swiping on the apps, I was mostly thinking of all the time it would take up. The (semi as I was still working on book stuff, although in moderation...) break gave me renewed energy for writing and in the last few weeks I have basically been editing the short story I talked about in my last post... which is available as an eBook worldwide on Amazon now! It's called My Town and here is the blurb for it:

‘Change, my darling, is happening, because it has to.’

Diana likes tea and cake every day at Polly’s, a bookshop called Blacks and her perfect life, until one day it isn’t.

What happens when everything falls apart?

The cover was naturally made using Canva to compliment the other short stories I have already self-published.

I cannot tell you how much I love writing and working on short stories, so for the forseeable future, that is exactly what I will be doing. In my last post I wrote a list of all the things I would be concentrating on in the next few months and I would also like to add some short story-related extras:

  • Years ago, when I was still using the pen name Lily Divine, I self-published a short story called Circle which I read again recently and got quite excited about so that will be my next project. It's already in good shape but there are definitely parts I'd like to change so I can't wait to get my hands on it tomorrow.
  • I have ideas for three other short stories which I'd like to write first drafts of in the next month or so.

As you may have gathered, my illustrious and ill-fated quest to find balance has of course gone out of the bloody window (again) so I anticipate yet another burnout before my next post.

So until next time,
Cara x

P.S. Here's the thing, I pre-wrote this post a couple of days ago and last night (Saturday), I unexpectedly started working on one of the short stories I had an idea for and ended up writing 1,605 words. I will continue to work on it today, so there you go.
