About

Cara started writing in 2013 after falling in love with it whilst housebound from the iatrogenic condition, Topical Steroid Addiction, which she has since made a full recovery from. She is now an advocate for the relatively unknown condition which affects thousands of people around the world. Cara also has a popular blog about her skin journey which can be found here: www.tswcara.blogspot.com.

In December 2017, she released the book, Curing my Incurable Eczema, about her battle with Topical Steroid Addiction, which reached the top five in the dermatology book charts on Amazon. In April 2019, she released the short story, Just Julia, based on her own experience of living with eczema. Stuff I'll Tell You To Do That I Won't Do Myself: Advice From A Self-Confessed Mess – part self-help book, part memoir ... with a twist, was published in August 2020. Her first collection of short stories, Thirty-Minute Tales, was released in September 2021.

From the age of twelve, Cara suffered from Trichotillomania (hair-pulling disorder) and Dermatillomania (skin picking disorder), but after her recovery from Topical Steroid Addiction, she decided to do something about it. In October 2016, she started a diary documenting her journey and over the course of seven weeks, learned how to manage her compulsions. A book about her experience, My Date with a Shaver, was published in March 2022.

Between late 2014 and early 2018, Cara wrote the women’s fiction series, Weighting to Live, which was republished in 2022. Around the same time, she also published the standalone short story, Knock Down Ginger, inspired by her experience of being bullied because of the colour of her hair.
