After having this blog for over ten years, I decided to make a change. A big one. I've not only removed a large proportion of my back catalogue from sale, but also taken down every single post I've ever written on this blog. It feels both liberating and scary. I think sometimes you simply outgrow the old, but, through a sense of nostalgia or feeling slightly protective over your work – because you know how much time and love went into it – it's hard to let go, even when you know it's the right thing to do. There's that fabulous quote about killing your darlings, which feels appropriate here. We sometimes cling to things that we know in our heart of hearts aren't right, for a myriad of reasons, but we've got to be less precious. There is nothing I love more than a clear-out, so it seems mad to think that it's taken so long to do the same with my writing, whether that's my blog or my books.
I don't think there will be a new blog post for a little while, but I wanted to fill the void and say hi before I sign out.
